I think these photos above summarize our week away from home very well. We spent eight days with my father in law and his wife. She comes from China and has always lots of interesting stories to tell. I have already planned a trip to China together with her once the children are a little older. It would be so fantastic to visit China with someone who is originally from there, to get the see the real life there and not only see it through tourist eyes.

The children spent most of the days either collecting insects or bathing by the lake. My father in law can really a lot about insects and it is wonderful to see how the children were completely smitten by his enthusiasm. The oldest boys had their own collection of insects by the end of the week. They also brought some of the fresh water insects inside to study and had their own little aquarium. They learnt so much!

I on the other hand spent the week taking it easy due to my back and knitting or reading. It was such a blessing to have no housework to do, or meals to plan, or laundry. My back is so much better now, still a bit tender but I can move about without a problem.

The weather was fantastic while we were away, and though June and July have been dreadful where we live in the north ( I am talking 6-7 degrees and gray), it is supposed to get much better and we should reach about 20 degrees for the first time this year next week. We are excited for a possible trip to the ocean.
